MobBill is a mobile billing company that enables e-commerce merchants to offer mobile carrier billing (via mobile contact bill/PAYGO balance) to their end users. The Insight user interface is the front-end that allows merchants to create billable products and to monitor the sales of products filtered via multiple parameters (country, product type[One-off, subscription]).

I was assigned to the project as the company, a start-up, only had two in-house developers at the time. They had already created a basic interface but I was brought in my make improvements to the aesthetics and functionality, as well as to make it run a bit quicker.

My role was to take a modified Bootstrap theme (tweaked by a designer to match the companies branding) and use that as the template for the website. Most of the page content was rendered on the client-side to reduce the load on the application servers.

Being based on Bootstrap the layout was naturally responsive, however with so much data being displayed in the tables a responsive solution was needed to display the tables correctly. That solution came in the form Footables, a JavaScript plugin that allows columns to be displayed/hidden based on the browser viewport width.

Data was visualised using the Highcharts charting library which is always a joy to work with.

I also worked with one of the developers on defining the data requirements for the API and often had to amend the server-side API code myself tinkering with the Groovy/Grails code and MySQL which helped to keep the work varied.
